All manuscripts must

Originality of manuscripts. For publication, only ORIGINAL contributions will be accepted. Manuscripts must not have been previously published or be in the process of being published elsewhere.

Simultaneous Submissions. It is not permitted to submit a manuscript to two different journals at the same time.

Revised manuscripts. Nanoscale Reports will not publish a manuscript that is a "revised" version of one that you have already published elsewhere. A submission must have at least 80% new material, with no more than 200 consecutive words (properly cited) reproduced verbatim from any previously published work to be considered original.

Images. A manuscript may include no more than 20 figures. All submitted images must follow the requirements outlined in Nanoscale Reports Image Formatting Guidelines. Any figures or tables that do not meet these minimum specifications will be returned to the author(s) for correction. All figures must be submitted as separate files in .tif format. Please also note that it is the author's responsibility to obtain permission to use any image currently under copyright by a third party. Please see the image guide for more information.

Nanoscale Reports Citations. Please make sure that any information drawn from another source in your work is supported with an in-text reference citation. Each contribution must include a minimum of ten sources. Please keep in mind that your references must be formatted in  Nanoscale Reports style. (If you do not properly format your references, the publication will return your submission to you for modification.) More information and examples of Nanoscale Reports citations can be found here.

Self-citation. In order to successfully express an idea in their current paper, researchers may need to mention prior published works. While Nanoscale Reports recommends the use of self-citations in certain situations, it is critical that self-cited works account for no more than 50% of the total references in the paper.

Peer review. Before being accepted for publication, all submissions must go through a double-blind review procedure.
